I am a vegetable grower who has been struggling with production quality and performance for a long time and often times ended up disappointed. I am a farmer and tomato production is my passion. I have been growing tomatoes for many years but I was severely affected by wilting and extensive crop losses. Luckily one day, I was visited by Balton agricultural officers who introduced me to tomato tolerant varieties from Balton. I picked up one variety called Zara F1. Making dreams come true with Balton products – Farming is a science and an art. Years back, I used to practice conventional vegetable farming methods as other farmers do. Then, a Balton Tanzania Agronomist came to our area and they changed my mind to do farming as a business, changing from using OPV varieties to hybrid seeds. I started using a tomato variety called Zara F1, and planted on one acre. For the first time, I earned Tsh.14million. I used part of the money to build a good house and with the remainder, I diversified into banana farming. This one step has changed my life to date! I thereafter increased the farming area to 2 acres using Iman F1 tomato variety from Balton – it also does very well. For sure my life has changed. Balton products are amazing! I have been growing onions from local seeds for many years with no good return on investment. But, when Balton Tanzania Limited came and introduce new onion hybrid seeds, I started growing Neptune F1 for the first year, and my return was very high. I managed to change my life and until now. Tropicana F1. I first planted it on a quarter of an acre to see the outcome, and I found that the crop needs a little capital, though the returns are high. There had been a big challenge in getting good and strong fungicides for controlling CBD disease in coffee, until we heard a radio advert on Balton Tanzania.
