Seeds & Seedlings

We are leaders in hybrid seedling production as well as in supplying the finest hybrid seeds. Our seeds and seedlings for all horticulture farmers – both commercial and small scale – for use in open field as well as greenhouse production are available all year round. Our hybrid and open pollinated seeds portfolios are carefully chosen, tried and tested locally to suit the soil and growing conditions in Zambia. Additionally, we have a professional team of agronomists who advise farmers on the best seed varieties suitable for their regions.
The effects of climate change have interrupted sowing and harvesting patterns in Zambia. To help farmers better adapt, we are continuously working on providing high quality hybrid seeds that are well adapted and capable of dealing with changing climatic conditions and emerging diseases.
We produce the finest seedlings from our state-of-the-art seedling production site based in Lusaka. Our seedlings are produced in a purpose-built nursery and greenhouse with very good hygiene and a well-planned disease management program. Our range consists of hybrid tomato, pepper, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, watermelon, carrot, lettuce, eggplant, rape, onion and all open pollinated varieties.
Our capacity-building programs engage local farmers in a comprehensive training program that entails land preparation, irrigation scheduling, pest and disease management, tailor made crop nutrition programs and weed management. In recent years, drought has become a major challenge for African farmers who are dependent on rain fed agriculture. To mitigate this, we supply hybrid vegetable and fodder seeds that are drought tolerant.

Tomatoes

In our range of tomato seeds, Dominique F1 and Topacio F1 are suitable for all regions including regions experiencing high temperatures and dry growing conditions. Additionally, they also have high resistance to Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV). Our Yaara F1 and Karni F1 tomato varieties are tolerant to bacterial wilt and are recommended for wilt prone areas. Topacio F1 is a prolific bearer with fruit that is medium sized 100 -120g, deep red in color with excellent shelf life. Nemo-netta F1 has medium-big fruit sizes of 110-140g, deep red color with good shelf life and resistance to nematodes. All our hybrid tomato varieties are resistant to Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) as well and are suitable for planting in different growing conditions. We have both determinate and indeterminate varieties.

Onions

Our Onion, Super Elad F1 ensures that the output is high per given area. This variety is well suited for all regions of Zambia and has very early maturity making it advantageous for rain fed production. The bulb size is medium to large, very pungent with a potential output of over 50 tonnes per hectare. Most onion growing areas face challenges of onion pink root disease from continuous onion production with limited crop rotation. Super Elad F1 has proved resistance to pink root and the variety can be grown both under irrigation and in rain fed areas.

Cabbage

Cabbage farming traditionally thrives in cool and wet areas. However, our Landini F1 seed variety is well adapted for all seasons with excellent resistance to cabbage black root. It is a superior, hardy hybrid variety with good heat tolerance. It exhibits superior traits as an unbeatable variety regardless of the region it is grown. Maturing in only 75 days after transplanting, Landini F1 has good head weight, over 5kg, excellent field holding capacity and has very uniform heads hence, a one-off harvest. Its compact head with enough cover leaves makes it suitable for long distance transportation. Through our focused product and development approach, we are continuously looking for and testing new varieties in order to solve emerging diseases which our farmers find difficult to combat.
